Two-Strand Twists with Flat Twisted Back
I twisted the front center section of my hair, rolled it under, and pinned it.
The back is two flat twists (starting from the front and meeting in center-back)
with the loose twist pinned to opposite sides (looks like a braid).

Peplum Looks

This peplum trend is pretty popular. I've seen these tops worn at
parties and they are actually figure flattering! The peplum looks
I've seen were so cute that I just had to create a few peplum looks
on Polyvore!
-

ikat print peplum top, pencil skirt, wristlet, wood necklace, wood bracelets, tassel bracelet

Print Peplum Top & Pencil Skirt
This look is one of the most common peplum looks: peplum w/ pencil skirt
This ikat print top evokes a tribal, ethnic vibe; so pairing it with earthy
brown & wood accessories paired just right!
-

studded peplum top, cobalt blue full skirt, ikat bag, fuchsia platform wedges, teardrop earrings, point necklace

Studded Peplum Top & Full, Flared Skirt
I don't see this pairing often, but when the right peplum top meets the
right flared skirt. the look works! This is a nice way to pull off this trend
for any one who doesn't want to wear a form-fitting pencil skirt.
A-Line all the way!
-

stripe peplum top, full floral skirt, bow wedges, straw tassel bag, leather bracelet, silver collar necklace

Stripe Peplum Top & Floral Bordered Full, Flare Skirt
This is a fun & bold look! The collar necklace is perfect with this striped look
because it borders the neckline of the top just as the floral print borders
the black skirt. Plus strips and floral is such an appealing pairing!

PersonalStyle: Layered Fall Look + PolyvoreSet

Grey Knit Vest layered over
Black Thermal with Floral Skinny Belt

I got the cute, drapey vest from Kohls and the thermal & belt from Forever 21. I'm always layering and this vest is one of my favorite pieces to do this with. The floral skinny belt adds a pop of color and is a nice contrast to all the darker colors. The vest has a loose fit [perfect for layering & belting] which doesn't hug, but lightly skims over the figure. I took advantage of the loose fit and draped the fabric over the belt.

Fall Look: Leopard Print, Stripes, & Sequins | HairStyle: FlatTwist n' HairClip

FALL LOOK

Leopard Print, Stripes, & Sequins | Fall Look

Leopard Print, Stripes, & Sequins | Fall Look by tamz-lavender

A look I styled a few days ago on Polyvore
Liked it so much I had to blog it!

First this look has print mixing (stripes & leopard print).
Second is texture mixing (knit, pleated chiffon, & sequins).
Third {my fav part} are these style elements; the horizontal lines (stripes)
in the sweater relates to the vertical lines that the pleats create.
This relation also balances the look! The skirts pleats are long, vertical
lines that keep the eyes moving and help create the illusion of length.
Then I just added some tassel accessories {because I luv it!} and
it ties into the whole vertical lines thing. The long tassel necklace pairs
perfectly with this look too, because it breaks up the horizontal
lines of the sweater to cause the eyes to move up and down
the figure versus across, which can sometimes trick the eyes
and make the figure appear wider.
{I styled a look like this in real life and have been trying to recreate it on polyvore for
some time now. I could just never find the right pieces.}

Playing around with design elements like patterns and texture, when
styling your look, could result in a unique and stylish outfit!
Have fun with your wardrobe!

HAIR STYLE

Flat-Twist, Head-Scarf & Clip

A simple hairstyle, for a "I don't really feel like doin' my hair right now" day!
I did a big, fat braid out (didn't feel like doin' a bunch of small
or medium braids). Took the braids out the next day, wanted
to do something more to it, parted the front and made a
big, fat flat-twist! Next I put a scarf on it (funny story: the scarf was
a waist sash I made in college for a ridiculously small dress form;
it fit my head, not my waist !). Then I just put up the rest of my hair with
a hair clip. A cute simple style!

STYLE: High-Low Tops & Tank Dress | HAIR: Flat Twists & Braids Adornment

LOOKS
Hi-Lo Tops and Tank Dress

Whats great about these looks is that it takes a basic article
of clothing [tank dress] and transforms it into a cute look!
The tank dress acts as a camisole and a skirt!

This is something I'd possibly wear!

HAIRSTYLE

This was an experimental hairstyle.
I wanted to create that mock braided headband look,
so I flat twisted my hair into these sections and made
two individual braids that I secured with  hair pins.
I then put the rest of my hair up into a small bun.
This simple style turned out pretty cute -and different!

Inspired by my Hair Inspiration pins.

STYLE: Casual Look | HAIR: Flat Twists n' Curls

Well, since I wear a uniform most days I don't have the opportunity
to post many personal style looks. So, I made a Polyvore Set
of a casual look I would wear with this hairstyle.

PERSONAL STYLE

I like to wear basics, because they are easy to wear.
This long-sleeve fitted dress over leggings will keep-away
most of the Chicago chill and the loose vest is a great
layering piece (I have many). When layering with a loose
top like this I always like to cinch my waist with a belt,
because if I don't I'll look like a rectangle (I like the hourglass).

Then I'd wear the classic hoop earrings, which is
never out of style to me! I usually buy bags that are
black or brown (this matches with most of my clothes).
(Here in the mid-west, especially in the fall, most of the clothes are
dark and muted.) I always by big bags like this one!
I actually have a pair of ankle boots like these too!

HAIRSTYLE

I made three large flat twists in the center
and added a little interest by curving
the part for the outer twists.
Then I just clipped back the rest of my
twist out curls.

3 Fall Looks

Casual Fall Look {Tribal/Geo Dress & Faux Leather}

Fall Look {tribal/geo print maxi dress, faux leather jacket}

Fall Look {tribal/geo print maxi dress, faux leather jacket} by tamz-lavender

Great look for fall that reflects the colors of the changing leaves!
If you have a maxi dress that is too long, instead of taking it up just
wear it with heels; like these Lace-Up Platform Booties from Charlotte Russe

Layer Up! Pink|White|Black|Grey Look

Layer Up! Pink|White|Black|Grey Look

Layer Up! Pink|White|Black|Grey Look by tamz-lavender

What makes this look work is that the tops are
loose (to easily layer) and the hoodie is fitted,
to bring in the loose tops and reduce
fullness around the waistline.
The pants are fitted to balance the loose tops.

Sweater Look | Sequins, Knits, & Animal Print

Sweater Look | Sequins, Knits,& Animal Print.

A layered look for Fall!
Before the weather becomes super frigid, pair those summer shorts with some tights, over-the-knee socks, and boots. Top it off with a knit sweater layered over a collared shirt..
